Residential
school for deaf children, Camden |
Our first nursery project involved the conversion of a derelict house into a nursery for 32 children from 0-5 years. The frontage on a busy main road was unsuitable to be used as an entrance, so the building has been re-orientated, with the entrance at the back. The rear of the terrace was messy and chaotic, due to numerous ad-hoc additions over the years. Remodelling and rebuilding of the rear extensions creates a protected courtyard, which is informal and welcoming, and of a child- friendly scale. |
