Residential
school for deaf children, Camden |
We were asked to design a new classroom, replacing an existing garage adjacent to an existing nursery. This small area of land allowed for a single open space, with a WC and sink, which forms the base for the oldest group of children, separate from the main nursery. A short construction programme was required, so the building was built using pre-fabricated timber panels, which were erected within two days, together with the roof structure. The trapezoidal plan generated a varying section, which opens up towards the garden. It is lit partly by skylights, due to the landlocked nature of site. |
