The school wanted to create more direct access to the building, with a clear route to the entrance and a welcoming environment for gathering and play. The works were carried out in 3 phases to allow for construction during holidays and to suit the school's budget.

A window has been removed to create a new entrance door, with a glazed canopy, and internal alterations were carried out to create a separate and secure entrance area. Alterations to the external space included reducing the height of a separating wall to allow views through, changing ground levels to provide flush thresholds and new paving to create a clearly legible pathway and designated play area. Timber seating and large planters are included, with irrigation from water collected from the canopy, roofs and drinking fountains; paving to the paths and the resin bound glass contain recycled aggregate. Areas of rubberized safety surface and painted macadam create a colourful patchwork of different textures and surfaces, with line markings designed by Year 6 children.
