Amanda Nicoll Associate at AAB architects: 2006 - present Amanda began her career as an apprentice architectural technician with The Parr Partnership in Dundee. After five years of working on a wide range of projects including the University of Abertay Library, she left to study architecture full time. She completed her studies at the Mackintosh School of Art and was awarded the Bourdon Prize, the Charlie Cochrane Silver Medal for Architecture and featured in Building Design's 'UK Class of 2004'. Amanda joined Sutherland Hussey architects in Edinburgh and worked on a number of small projects, including a garden pavilion in the west end of Glasgow. At Benson + Forsyth she worked on a large retail and hotel development in the city centre of Nottingham. Amanda joined AAB architects in 2006 and was made an associate in 2009. She has been responsible for the design and realization of many education projects in the office over the past five years. Completed projects include the Frank Barnes school for deaf children in Camden and alterations to the Kate Greenaway Nursery, which was published in AJ Small Projects and shortlisted for an RIBA awards 2009. The majority of these projects involved the refurbishment and conversion of existing buildings. Amanda has also delivered a number of community projects including the Pirate Castle extension in Camden and Duke's Meadows play area in Chiswick. Amanda is currently working on high-end residential refurbishment projects in London. Qualifications
