AAB architects can assist in developing strategies for community consultation, to establish links with those who have may have an interest in a proposed project. The objectives of the consultation may include obtaining a better understanding of the problems faced by people in the area, establishing a more detailed brief, eg. what kind of services are needed, and actively involving people in the process. We can help people visualise new buildings and new public spaces, and help open up the issues of place-making to local discussion and problem-solving. Methods for doing so are naturally based on promoting participation in activities that are linked creatively to design issues such as terrain modelling or location of key play-equipment. Workshops and presentations using simple models and clear initial description of relevant issues, sometimes facilitated by local leaders and/or artists, are part of our method. | ![]() |
