AAB architects were appointed to work with planning consultants Dalton Warner Davis to develop a scheme for four dwellings that addressed scale,
overlooking and distances required between windows, further to previous refusal of planning permission.
In the current scheme for three 3-storey and one 4-storey terraced houses, the massing is carefully modulated to reduce the impact on the neighbouring houses:
extended ground floors enable the upper floors to be reduced in depth, and the overall height steps down at one end, to reflect the smaller scale of the houses
in the adjoining street. The second floor is accommodated within the pitched roof, with dormer windows giving onto south facing terraces, maximising solar gain.
Proposed materials are brickwork external walls, with slate roofs. The roofs of the single storey rear extensions are to be planted with sedums to increase
biodiversity, and have large skylights above the living areas.
