Parham Way

Muswell Hill Conservation Area

AAB architects worked with planning consultants Dalton Warner Davis to secure planning permission for four houses on the site of an existing bungalow, further to the refusal of previous application by others. The site was developed by Martin Grant Homes in 2014.

Parham Mews comprises one 2-storey and three 3-storey terraced houses. The massing is carefully modulated to reduce the impact on the neighbouring houses: extended ground floors enable the upper floors to be reduced in depth, and the overall height steps down at one end, to reflect the smaller scale of the houses in the adjoining street. The second floor is accommodated within the pitched roof, with large dormer windows overlooking the back gardens, relating to the domestic architecture of the conservation area. The roofs of the single storey rear extensions are planted with sedum to increase biodiversity, and incorporate large skylights.
