Camden Town Sports Pitch

Camden Town, London

Refurbishment of a 3,000m2 pitch to create a shared multi-use games area for Richard Cobden Primary School and borough-wide school league sports. The works were funded by the Football Foundation and good playing surface was required for football, netball and tennis.

The works were programmed to enable the school to use the playground for most of the contract period, with the new regulated macadam surface being laid in the summer holidays. The contract included new floodlights and external fencing, planting to screen the adjacent road, drinking fountains and fixed timber benches for spectators. A canopy for shelter and shading is provided for use by the school, with storage for playtime games and sports equipment. The canopy is steel framed with a poly-carbonate roofing and was designed to be robust to resist damage by footballs, with purpose-made steel gutters and rainwater pipes.
